Craig Halkett: Hearts defender out for 10 weeks with knee injury
Hearts defender Craig Halkett has been ruled out for about 10 weeks with a knee injury, manager Craig Levein has verified.
The centre-back was forced off during their goalless draw with St Mirren last weekend and tests have shown medial ligament damage has been suffered by him.
Halkett has been a regular fixture at the side in the first phases of the campaign of Levein, making 12 appearances in all competitions and scoring four goals at the Scottish League Cup.
Levein said:We have got a fair concept, it will be about approximately ten weeks but it could be less or slightly more. Its disappointing on a range of arenas, of course for ourselves because hes been performing well, and for him because he has been performing well.
Following the midfielder was forced off at St Mirren with a hamstring problem hearts are likely to be without Loic Damour for Saturdays visit of Kilmarnock.
He hasnt trained this week thats a sign that he could struggle for tomorrow, Levein explained. The plan is he is going to do something today and then well need to see if there is a reaction tomorrow before we could make a choice.
