Home Run Derby Baseball Odds and Predictions
With everyone hitting lots of home runs, it may seem like the Derby field could be as open as ever. To begin with, you have to take under consideration the ball park, and each of the participant’s history in that particular park. This year’s game is in Washington therefore the clear favorite would be Washington Nationals slugger Bryce Harper. It hasn’t been a great season for Harper concerning batting average, but he’s still among the league leaders in home runs. Harper has said he will participate in the Home Run Derby if he gets the All-Star team. “So count me in for the Derby if and only if I make the team,” Harper explained to the Washington Post. “But if I do I’ll be a participant in the 2019 HR Derby.”
Another participant to think about in the Home Run Derby when he’s chosen is rookie Juan Soto of their Nationals. He has shown outstanding power this season and has moved to the cleanup spot in the lineup for Washington. He hit a home run over the second deck in Nationals Park before this year.
If you are looking beyond both hometown heroes, you may want to consider players that have played at Nationals Park more than only a few times. J.D. Martinez leads the American League in home runs and that he played in the National League until last year. He is a fantastic choice if he chooses to participate. And don’t forget about Jesus Aguilar of the Brewers, as he is behind Harper because of its lead in National League home runs and young star Ozzie Albies of the Braves who is making his mark this year.
