Prix de l’Abbaye next target for Invincible Army
James Tate is eyeing a crack in the Qatar Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp Following month after the colt Campaign in the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh, for Invincible Army.
The four-year-old stayed on strongly to take position at the trip behind Fairyland on his second attempt, in the Group One dash.
Invincible Army has left his mark, since finishing second to Havana Grey from the Molecomb Stakes at Glorious Goodwood as a juvenile.
However, his effort on Sunday buoyed Tate and has got the Abbaye in his landscapes.
“He is as fresh as paint and trotted sound – so we have got lots of choices – but probably it’ll be the Abbaye, I’d have believed,” said Tate.
“He raced well. He was third in a Group One at five, so on his very first try for a couple of years, therefore we could give it a second attempt”
Under The Stars may also visit Longchamp for the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac, after departing Tate”frustrated” when denied a smooth passage at the Moyglare Stud Stakes.
Her opportunity had gone at that time the girl of Night Of Thunder acquired a clear run – beaten just two lengths by the winner, Enjoy.
“She was frustrating because she got stuck in a pocket behind the winner and also the second, so she got out before the last furlong,” said her trainer.
“She ran a solid-enough race, finishing fifth, but that I thought maybe she would have picked up a bit of black kind had she obtained a clean run.
“She had been drawn five , and the pace wasn’t overly quickly, and she got a fresh run at it.”
Tate keeps hope that there’s more to emerge.
He added:”She wasn’t beaten much, (and) I had been satisfied with her run, but I want to believe we might be a little greater than that.
“I can see the most likely race for her being that the Prix Marcel Boussac.
“There’s the Rockfel, weekend after next at Newmarket, however, if the weather stays dry that might be on the quick side for her so we might go to Longchamp instead.”
