Mike Perry Free Breakdown
Perry brings big power on the toes and a durable way to adopt brawls. He can be outmanoeuvred by technical boxers but contrary to the likes of Ponzinibbio, a top competitive striker for the branch, he was very competitive. Perry is strong from the clinch but his takedown defense is still unproven against a legitimate grappler. Cowboy could exploit the floor game as he’s underrated wrestling, however, he tends to struggle with inconsistent gameplans. Getting sucked into brawls is a common issue and here against Perry that could be a significant mistake. He has big electricity himself but both guys are quite hittable. On the toes it likely favours Perry, at least for the first half of the struggle when he’s most dangerous. Look for a back and on warfare, together with all the durability of Perry which makes the gap — as both men consume serious damage.Andrei Arlovski Breakdown
Arlovski is on a 3 fight losing streak but has been aggressive in most fights going back to his KO loss to Ngannou. At 40 years old he brings a not as aggressive style nowadays which has lead to six consecutive decisions. His output seems to be slowing but his precise boxing fashion stays, permitting him to work behind a jab against diminished opponents. Sakai is much younger so could be advancing, but so far has failed to impress. He’s big and yells powerful yet slow singular strikes, with low volume. Mostly a boxer, Arlovski will not have to worry about too many different weapons.
This is likely to be a slow fight with the effective striker coming out on top. Start looking for Arlovski to prevent exchanges and poke Sakai in the outside or use his wrestling to hold him against the weapon. If he can avoid becoming caught a decision here is likely for the underdog.
Bet = Arlovski in 2.30 (+130) odds. Risk 3 Units to acquire 3.90 Units.
Virna Jandiroba Breakdown
Jandiroba is a serious BJJ blackbelt which makes her UFC debut with a 14-0 record. She’s jiu-jitsu wins over both Claudia Gadelha and Amanda Nunes. Whilst restricted with striking, she’s constant with takedowns and has a huge variety of techniques to get conflicts to the ground. On top she is very strong, keeping control and attacking subs. This is obviously a large step up in competition from Invicta against Esparza, a true veteran. Carla is on a losing streak against fellow grapplers and hasn’t displayed great takedown defense to match her offensive wrestling skills. She’d be best to attempt to keep this fight standing where her improved striking should be able to edge out quantity.
Jandiroba is not shown at this level but seems like the real deal, displaying outstanding method and composure. Worst case scenario Esparza is able to defend her off back and create scrambles to force dramatic exchanges, taking us to a close choice. A much better position is Jandiroba dominating with her high control and securing a unanimous decision or finding a entry. An Esparza end is very unlikely. Given the chances and various paths to victory, a shot on the newcomer at money is good price.
