It is not the simplest of jobs. And that would be OK in the event the franchise that has made the playoffs each of the previous 10 seasons were overflowing with talent, instead of the current situation that is quite conducive to this dreaded”t” word.
Dennis Schroder is part of this mix, in addition to newly acquired large man Dewayne Dedmon. However, who else? Kent Bazemore, Taurean Prince and Ersan Ilyasova? Can Marco Belinelli or even Luke Babbitt be in the mix if they can keep shooting as they did with the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat, respectively? Are we prepared to throw John Collins?
This Atlanta roster might have some upside, but it’s almost entirely devoid of recognized talent. The top pieces have question marks, since Schroder hasn’t served as the unquestioned leader of a group, Dedmon has yet to play with over 17.5 minutes per game and Bazemore is coming from a disappointing effort.
Talent wins out in the NBA, and the Hawks don’t have enough of itor enough motivation to avoid the base of the Eastern Conference–to shove toward the 26 wins necessary for the over bet.
