Rory McIlroy endures a bad day in Dubai after shooting 10 shots higher than first day

After his hopes of a fourth win of this year took a bang following having a frustrating second round rory McIlroy pledged to get back on track during the weekend in that DP World Tour Championship.
McIlroy was only one off the lead overnight following his refined 64 on Thursday, however he needed 10 shots to negotiate the Earth Course on Friday as he slipped six shots behind leader Mike Lorenzo-Vera that is halfway.
The world No 2 seemed out of sorts early and, after five opening pars, he discovered water from the tee at the short sixth and ran up a double-bogey before becoming one back at the seventh, just to fall additional shots in the 10th and 13th, where he fluffed a processor and did well to limit the harm to some four.
McIlroy almost pitched in for eagle at the 14th and settled for a tap-in birdie, however following another great save at 17, he shove his driveway at the last also far right and found water, even though he was able to obtain the green with a fairway-wood and two-putt to salvage a par-five to keep at six below.
Obviously I simply didnt quite have it today, said McIlroy, who is playing in his closing event of the year before shooting a two-month break over the winter. The wind was up a bit, there was lots of into-off-the-right storms, and I had been hoping to hold them up and that I had been losing them left a small bit. Attempt to figure out that and I just need to do a little work on the scope.
But I hung in there now. Today the putts that went yesterday moved over the edges of these holes, and that I didnt know the rough was as bad as it was. It turned out a little more difficult, but I hit it in the rough now although I hit it in the fairway the majority of the week.
I wasnt quite there. The end was tricky and the course played with a little more challenging, but obviously I did play and yesterday. Its a fickle game. I have always said that it may seem easy and somebody up there saysno, not so quickly, also brings you back down to ground. Thats golf!
However, I fought through it and Im still in with a shout to have a go at winning that tournament. I simply have to stick the head down over the weekend and get out there and attempt to shoot a couple of good scores.
