Craig Levein backed by Hearts owner Ann Budge despite poor start
Hearts proprietor Ann Budge claims the club’s board has granted their backing to director Craig Levein despite a bad start to the season.
Hearts now sit bottom of their Premiership having only picked up 2 points in their opening five games of the year.
Last weekend’s 3-2 home defeat to Motherwell was followed closely by fan protests with some fans for Levein’s sacking calling.
Budge submitted a long statement on the club’s website criticising”unfair” coverage of Levein and blowing claims that the team are lining up a replacement.
“[…] In summary, our Board remains behind the supervisor, his coaching staff and his staff,” Budge said.
“Not because he is’untouchable’, not because he is’all-powerful’, and not because we are’weak’, as was suggested.
“We stay supporting him because we think in the design we have jointly put together.
“What we don’t do is overreact, throw all of our plans from the window and then begin again!
“[…] I would simply point out that, unlike other managers, who might get called facing the plank if/when items are going wrong, Craig must present to the complete board at each board meeting on how things are moving against [the] strategy across all areas of the football operation, such as highlighting topics and talking courses of action.”
