Craig Levein backed by Hearts owner Ann Budge despite poor start
Hearts owner Ann Budge states director Craig Levein has been granted their backing by the club’s board despite a bad start to the year.
Hearts sit bottom of the Premiership having picked up 2 points from their opening five games of this year.
Fan protests followed last weekend’s 3-2 home defeat to Motherwell out Tynecastle, with some supporters.
Budge posted a lengthy statement on the club website criticising”unfair” coverage of Levein and ignoring claims which the team have been lining up a replacement.
“[…] In summary, our Board stays behind the manager, his coaching staff and his team,” Budge said.
“Not because he’s’untouchable’, not since he’s’all-powerful’, rather than because we’re’weak’, as has been indicated.
“We remain behind him because we believe in the design we have collectively collect.
“What we don’t do is overreact, throw all our plans from the window and then start again!
“[…] I’d only point out that, contrary to other managers, who might get called before the board if/when items are going wrong, Craig must present to the full board at each board meeting on how things are moving against [the] strategy across every area of the football performance, such as highlighting issues and talking courses of action.”
